On 23–24 March, the Air4NRG project participated in the General Assembly of the BRIDGE Initiative, bringing together EU-funded projects working on smart grids, energy storage, and digitalisation. The event provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, align efforts, and reinforce cooperation across initiatives addressing common challenges in the energy transition.

Day 1: Policy updates and project exchange

The first day focused on recent and upcoming EU policy developments shaping the energy landscape. Participants received updates on key initiatives such as the AI Continent Action Plan (published in April 2025), the European Grids Package (December 2025), and the Clean Energy Investment Strategy (March 2026), as well as insights into upcoming frameworks like the Electrification Action Plan. These policy discussions highlighted the fast-evolving regulatory context in which projects like Air4NRG operate, and the importance of aligning research and innovation with EU priorities.

In addition, several projects from the BRIDGE community shared their progress and results, showcasing a wide range of solutions aimed at advancing Europe’s energy systems. These exchanges fostered mutual learning and opened opportunities for collaboration across projects tackling similar technical and societal challenges.

Day 2: Innovation, AI and working group collaboration

The second day focused on key cross-cutting topics, including the Innovation Fund and the growing role of artificial intelligence in energy systems.

Participants also engaged in the BRIDGE Working Groups – Data Management, Business Models, Regulation, and Customer Engagement. These sessions are central to the BRIDGE initiative, enabling projects to work together on shared challenges, develop common recommendations, and contribute to EU-level discussions.

The importance of collaboration

The BRIDGE General Assembly once again demonstrated the value of cooperation across projects and at European level. While each project addresses specific technical objectives, many face similar barriers, from regulatory frameworks to market uptake and stakeholder engagement. By working together, projects like Air4NRG can share experiences, align approaches, and amplify their collective impact.

Such collaboration not only strengthens individual project outcomes but also contributes to shaping a more coherent, efficient and resilient European energy system. Air4NRG remains committed to actively contributing to the BRIDGE community and to fostering synergies that support the transition towards a clean and sustainable energy future.
