CO-DESIGNING SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SOLUTIONS: BALANCING SUSTAINABILITY WITH TECHNICAL OPTIMISATION

As part of the “Meet the Partners” video series, we interviewed Carlos Blasco Muñoz from LOMARTOV to get more insights into the organisation’s role in the project and its contribution to ensuring the sustainability of the AIR4NRG technology.

From the initial stages of the project, LOMARTOV has led the co-design process of Air4NRG, closely collaborating with partners to minimise the environmental impact of the technology under development. Their contribution has focused on providing concrete recommendations to optimise the overall system design, including the sourcing of low-impact, locally available materials.

For Carlos, one of the most rewarding aspects of being involved in the Air4NRG project has been collaborating with a consortium committed to developing technology with significant potential for the energy sector. The integration of sustainability principles into an innovative energy solution reinforces the project’s ambition to deliver both high technical performance and tangible environmental benefits.

From Carlo’s experience, balancing sustainability with technical optimisation of the project can sometimes be challenging, but he highlights that the strong communication within the consortium and the extensive work carried out during the co-design phase enabled the partners to succesfully overcome the challenges.

Moving forward, LOMARTOV will play a central role in assessing the overall sustainability of the Air4NRG solution. The organisation will conduct a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), covering both environmental impacts as well as social dimensions. In addition, they will carry out a techno-economic assessment to evaluate the economic feasibility and long-term sustainability of the project.

Thanks to LOMARTOV’s work, Air4NRG continues to porsue its commitment to developing energy solutions that combine technical excellence with environmental responsibility and social awareness.
