EMBEDDING SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY AND GENDER EQUALITY INTO ENERGY INNOVATION

In the latest “Meet the Partners” video, Yamina Guidoum from LOMARTOV shares how Air4NRG integrates sustainability, RRI, and social impact into its innovation approach. The interview highlights key work on gender equality and stakeholder engagement, ensuring inclusive and responsible energy solutions.

As part of our “Meet the Partners” video series, the Air4NRG project is pleased to share a new interview featuring Yamina Guidoum, Senior EU Project Manager from LOMARTOV, a dynamic engineering and consultancy firm dedicated to driving sustainable innovation across various sectors. With expertise in environmental science, advanced materials, and energy solutions, LOMARTOV specialises in lifecycle assessment, eco-design, and technology validation.

In the video, Yamina shares insights into LOMARTOV’s crucial role in assessing the triple pillar sustainability of Air4NRG technology, covering environmental impact, economic viability, and social acceptance. Yamina is personally leading the social sustainability component, bringing a comprehensive approach to ensure the project’s positive societal impact.

At the heart of LOMARTOV’s work is the Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) framework, which addresses critical questions often overlooked in technological development. “How can we contribute to science education? How can we involve stakeholders? How can we ensure gender equality?” Yamina explains. “And the most exciting part is how to make something out of that and have concrete actions.”

One of the project’s standout achievements has been its proactive work on gender equality, a challenge Yamina describes as “a good challenge to have.” The team organised awareness-raising workshops to help consortium members understand why gender equality matters for the project’s success. This was followed by expert-led sessions featuring representatives from the European Commission and specialised associations to facilitate meaningful dialogue.

Now, the initiative is entering its most critical phase: developing action plans with clear KPIs, timelines, and concrete measures for each consortium member to implement. This structured approach ensures that gender equality and social sustainability aren’t just theoretical commitments but practical actions embedded in the project’s day-to-day operations.

Through this work, Air4NRG demonstrates that sustainable energy innovation extends beyond technical and economic performance; it requires thoughtful consideration of ethical issues, stakeholder engagement, and social equity. LOMARTOV’s leadership in this area is helping to shape a more inclusive and responsible approach to energy technology development.
